Help us count bats!https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1167163878371245
We would like to get a team together that could conduct roost emergence surveys .i.e. counting and recording bats emerging from a roost at a home owner’s property. This is an important aspect of public engagement and also helps our research to identify types of roosts and species.
What is involved?
- One or two of the team: Visit a property during the day to chat to the owners and decide what is needed for the survey.
- Return one evening before sunset with other team members to conduct the survey.
- Later, one of the team analyses the results to decide on the species and type of roost
We will learn from each other but training will first be given on roost site visits and emergence survey protocols. It is a lovely way to spend a peaceful evening and so interesting to find out more about our bats in Jersey.
Would you like to know more? Come to our open meeting on Wednesday 19th March, starting at 19.30 at the Societé Jersiaise, Pier Road, St. Helier. No need to book!
If you can’t make it to the meeting but would like to find out more, just send us an email: enquiries@jerseybatgroup.org
